Stupid Is As Stupid Says

Please shut your pie hole about the HPV vaccine, Ms. Bachmann. Those of us with a functioning cerebral cortex have had enough.

  1. Hmmm. Not sure what was stupid? The fact that she thought that people ought to be able choose whether to have a vaccine injection or not, that maybe he should have let the legislature vote instead of mandating it, or the fact that she was raising questions about how this order occurred near the time he received campaign funding from the vaccine's maker? Not that I am going to be voting for her, but they all seemed like reasonable points to bring up. I don't know why such nasty comments were necessary. I would hope it is not because of the media stereotype that Republican women must be stupid. The tone of this post was very insulting.

  2. Amen, amen, amen. The Husband (a physician) came home from work absolutely steaming about this nonsense, and I have yet to step off my soapbox. Since when, as a culture, do we reward ignorance and foolishness by giving their mouthpieces time in the limelight? It is abundantly clear to me, as it was before, that MB did not get an Amherst education... : )

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog, Jessica.

The stupidity to which I refer stems from Ms Bachmann's claim that the HPV vaccine causes mental defect/retardation to substantiate her position in the Republican debate, where there is absolutely no evidence to support such a claim. The privilege of her position as a U.S. presidential candidate requires her (at a minimum) to maintain a certain level of intelligence regarding the matters of which she speaks -- a requirement she has failed to meet on any number of occasions. In addition, her putting the health of millions of women at risk is both incomprehensible and irresponsible.

And make no mistake, the insulting tone was purely intentional.

  5. I love it when everything girls think they know more than the Center for Disease Control.

  6. Why don't public figures realize the importance of checking the "facts" they spew forward? I wouldn't want this woman to be our local dogcatcher much less ever consider voting for her for President!

Thank you for using your "pulpit" for good. It's wonderful to see a design blogger take a stand for what is right and just. I applaud you for that and ask that you continue this good work, be it design or commentary.
